The Lookout
The Lookout
Address: 2 Highburg Road. Barlond. Rivendell Homesteads.
Prelude: There were a number of different houses released within the Rivendell neighborhood. There seemed to be a house for everyone whether it was someone who wanted privacy or a view of the Misty Mountains. When you consider there are only two small houses within my price range and one of them having a vantage point higher than all the others, there spurred an idea to create a small outpost. A number of decorations came from the newest sets on the seasonal barterer, the additions to the reputational barters, the barterers from the Kintai in the Harad regions, and the various floral arrangements that came from a previous kinship theme.
Outside
Overhead: Mobile yard hooks are generally seen as a rarity outside the Erebor neighborhood. The developers chose that all houses in the Rivendell neighborhood should have them. This allows you to lift up bridges and things on top of platforms. Though, the number of hooks and keeping to the theme limited me on how much could be done. I tried my hardest to add something spectacular in the giant hole of the hollow gazebo in the middle, but nothing seemed to be better than seeing the new night time glow of the house. There are a few towers on the outskirts that let you see the valley and a gap to the left of the house where you can see the waterfall. You can visit a couple of shrines and enjoy the rose garden fence that circles around the property.
Inside
Barracks: There are three center rooms when you enter the house. To the right is the banker with a couple of guards on high alert. To the left is the study room where scholars research the local wildlife and rest for the night. You can find Bilbo Baggins actively digging into some books. Elves can arm themselves with the weapons in the back room. The opportunity to show off some rare Felegoth rewards presented itself as well as squeezing a few other unusual elvish rewards from Lothlorien throughout the estate. Though admittedly, squeezing in a couple of large potted sago palms from the Midsummer Festival was quite the unorthodox decision. There was a lot of empty space that needed to be filled in with something.
Undergrowth: You can creep downstairs to see the remains of the basement ruins. The flowers and trees may have taken hold of the place, but there is still a nice place to sit down and enjoy the fireplace. There's a goose hiding behind the stairs and a place behind the vines if you want some time alone. With the 90% Off Before the Shadow sale, I was able to obtain the mural decoration. Since this is the bottom floor, there was some concern on how the large decorations would impede into the space. Anything placed on the outer circle by the wall weren't seem down below. On the other hand, things can be pushed down into the floor here without any worry. Ironically, I replaced the pet decoration of the White Stag with the newest Grazing Great-hart guard property you can get from the introduction quest to the neighborhood.
Garden: Upstairs is a garden for your average visitor to relax. There are a number of flowers on display circling around the exterior of the room. Some of these bushes you can obtain from the Minas Tirith quartermaster and no longer bound to account. There is also a lovely swan fountain in the far back that I chose to shring back down from the Stangard rewards vendor. The choice of color in this room was a tough decision since the floor is green, the structures were white, and the ceiling good either been green or purple. In the end, purple seemed to be best option since many of the other colors were already featured in the other rooms.
