Lotro Point Farm
History
The Original Way: Acquiring Lotro Points from deeds was a rather straightforward process. If you completed 90% of the content, you would receive a decent amount of Lotro Points for all of your efforts. Work your way through all the quests in a region and eventually you would complete the explorer deeds. Unlocking the dailies, using tokens, and occasionally turning in tasks would complete reputations. Run through the instances a few times and you would complete the slayer deeds. If you did this five times, with five characters, the cost of the content would pay itself.
Troubling Times: Things started to get worse through Rohan when deeds required more and more slain enemies. This doesn't even figure in the ridiculous 4,295 Lotro Point price tag they gave for Helm's Deep (about double than the other expansions at the time). They eventually pulled back on some of the slayer amounts to give them the same nice round number as previous areas, but Gondor still requires 120 for the basic and 240 for the advanced slayer deeds. Perhaps the highest amount goes to Wildwood with its 200 and 400 requirement for the slayer deeds.
When it came to factions, the dailies to earn reputation for Derndingle was notoriously bad. A lot of players noticed the trend following into the Gondor regions with additional tiers added for dailies in Minas Tirith and crafting items for separate Host of the West categories. A few factions didn't even have task items that contributed to their reputation until the Quality of Life patch in Update 43. Slayer deeds began to be separated into categories where you needed to defeat enemies either in landscape or instances (whether it be dungeon, skirmish, mission, public, daily, or resource).
Trifle Amounts: Instead of offering 5 points for the basic slayer deed and 10 points for defeating twice the amount of enemies for the advanced slayer deed, 5 Lotro Points were given to each version starting in Rohan. Starting in Mordor, you began to see this drop where 5 Lotro Points was only given when completing the advanced slayer deed. Then around 2022, Yondershire was the first region that didn't give any points for completing the slayer deeds. The developers also didn't offer Lotro Points for all the slayer deeds in Corsairs of Umbar. They must have realized this was a bad idea since they returned to offering 5 Lotro Points in the advanced slayer deeds for later content.
Setup (Level 1)
Preparation: Craft a level 15 Stout Ash Bow with a woodworker and place it in shared storage. This makes things much quicker than doing the questline for a bow. You will need to create a hunter. Any race will do, but you can complete two deeds if they are an elf or hobbit. A river hobbit can complete two if you wait until you are level 19 to slay the orcs in Bree. You can also choose to complete the river hobbit introduction. It provides you more time to sort out your bags while the hobbits converse. Otherwise, choose the Before the Shadow introduction. If you are planning to use your Anniversary black steel key gifts, make sure you don't have Traveler lootboxes in your filter list (Alt + R).
Mossward Start: There are a few straightforward quests you can obtain right after you complete the introduction. Whether or not you need to do them depends on how many experience boosts you may have in your possession. The Steely Dawn Starter Pack, with a box labeled Mac Starter Bundle, will provide you 5 experience boosts. You can immediately use three of these, since they stack, for the three hours climb to level 20. Other items can be equipped to your ear, back, and pocket. Playing during an event can also contribute an experience boost.
Do you have Journeyman Riding? This will immediately provide you with a Riding Skill. If you do not, the blacksmith will provide you a quest. Any promotional steed can help you at this point. The goal here is to have 5 silver coins for the ride over to Celondim. You can sell the Flame item for 17s in a pinch. Be careful if you choose to travel from a housing stable-master since it still costs 1s to visit Celondim.
Nen Hilith: The primary quest you want is In Defence of the Forest and defeat the sickle-flies over the hill to the west. Make sure to choose the bow to instantly make things better this point on. You can also pick up the Prologue. Set your milestone here. You do not have to check your mail at any point. The first letter is just Bingo Boffin telling you to visit him.
Head west to the pond and complete all the quests there. You do not have to complete the wolf slayer deed here as there will be other opportunities. Make sure you loot the iron collar in your pending loot before you leave. If it stacks up, you can destroy duplicates you don't need.
Are you now at least level 5? For traits, I focus as a blue hunter and shoot for Onward for healing and The Chase for no miss chance penalty while moving. Use pretty much everything you get from the gift boxes that automatically appears in your inventory except the slayer tome. Wenda Cranesbill is right there on the dock if you want to pick up your VIP items.
The Vineyard: Before you go, make sure to pick up Hallowed Ground. Head up to Tham Gelair, defeat either wolves or rats, aim to complete the slayer deed, and place the token on the table. Complete the quests at the Vineyard and make sure to complete the basic goblin slayer deed. Use the milestone to head back to Celondim to turn in the quests.
The Trip North: Once you clear out Celondim, make sure you have all four exploration points on the way to Duillond, including Dol Ringwest. You should now have the deed for 10 regional quests done.
Dwarf-lands (Level 8 - 12)
Thrasi's Lodge: There is a quest at Thrasi's Lodge called The Cat's Meow. It directs you to an Abandoned Den labeled in yellow text a little north. Make sure to investigate the den and then start taking out the birds nearby for the objective. Turn in the quest afterwards. The theory is that more birds will spawn once you complete the quest. Head north to find both Ringdale and Grimwater. Don't worry too much about completing the slayer deeds here since there will be more opportunities later on. There are two different ways you can proceed at this point.
Route 1: The goal here is to kill enough spiders for basic spider slayer deed on your way to the Wardspire. There is one dwarf you can find for the quest Tangled Up that will help spawn more spiders as you escort them to safety.
Route 2: You want to head directly to the enemy docks. It can be easy to miss the spire when trying to complete the exploration deed. Defeat enough dourhand dwarves for the brigand slayer deed - yes, they mean dwarves in this case.
When you clear both paths, you should at least be level 11. Hunters receive Guide to Michel Delving automatically. If you are level 12, you automatically receive your run speed boost. Clear out all your objectives and take the port to the Shire.
Shire (Levels 12 - 15)
Wander Like a Hobbit: The quest you will want to complete in order to turn in the reputational Mathom tokens at level 20 is The Founding Writ. You will want to hit all the major explorer points from starting at the farm to the south, head to the farm where you can turn into a chicken, check out the apple trees at the Hill, route around the Party Tree, and visit the hobbits for the quest at Tuckborough.
Slayer Run: Once you reach Old Odo's Leaf-farm, use the 30-minute slayer tome from the level 10 giftbox. Your goal here is to complete the basic and advanced slayer deeds of Brigands by crossing just above the waterfall where the torches meet the road heading to the brigand camp. Head north a little to The Yale-height for the Sickle-fly slayer deed. Sometime between slaying enemies, hop over to Farmer Maggot's place and the Stocktower for the explorer locations.
Cross the river to find a myriad of wolves for the basic and advanced slayer deed. Head north to the Scary Quarry for the spider slayer deed. If you are level 13, you should be able to complete the racial deed here or when you head north for the goblin slayer deed. You can find them on the east and west side of Brockenborings. You should have just enough time before the tome ends.
Are you level 15? This gives you the advantage of using your Guide to Bree. The vault there by the stable-master will allow you to access the crafted bow you might have made earlier. If not, you can take a shortcut up north with the festival horse, visit Saeradan, route west to talk to Rose, and then go north to find her husband Robb. You only need to turn in the quest for the bow, but you can accept the next quest to escort him to safety.
There are three stray slayer deeds you can complete at any time. These include orcs in the north (wait until level 19 if you are river hobbit for racial deed), neekers at the pond south of Bree, and brigands that can be found... in a lot of places. You can head west to Adso's Farm to complete a number of quests there. Do not complete the hunter quest The Hunter's Path as there is a lot of stressful wandering around looking for a named wolf that only appears after you kill 15 wolves spread all around the Old Forest.
Barrow-Downs: There are three main quest areas you will want to focus on. The Dead Man's Perch can be reached by going over a small hill if you finished the neeker slayer deed. You can find both of Addie's sons and two bounty quests. Barghests can actually be difficult to find if there are other players in the area. Old Barrows Road provides a fair share of quests. While I recommend finding Lalia, escorting her might not be the best use of your time. Make sure to complete Treasures of Cardolan in order to use any Cardolan trinkets to complete the reputation deed. The third place to find quests is from the wandering shade. You can find him circling the Dead Spire.
Deeds: Taradan is a place that you want to hit for both Brood-hunter and spiders. You will want to hit all the tombs. While you are completing the wight slayer deed, you will come across a number of Cardolan pages. It is possible to complete the deed, but don't feel bad if you don't before you reach level 20. Do not discard duplicate pages that might have populated your pending loot - it will wipe all the pages that went into your deed log. If you are curious, the barrow-brie deed does not give you Lotro Points.
Extras
Lootboxes: Other than using reputation tokens at level 20, the best advantage is using your black steel keys from the Anniversary 3 and 7 year gift boxes. Although the keys themselves have a level 15 minimum requirement, the lootboxes have a level 20 minimum requirement. Double check your Motes of Enchantment cap before you open them.
Account Points: If you have every map decoration available from the festivals, you can complete the Eriador and Moria by making sure the decorations are in your possession. You can retrieve the maps one at a time if you have them all hanging up in your house. Another deed you can complete is The Journal of Captain Rabghul. You can obtain these inside the Inn of the Forsaken that is set to T2 and provided you have a champion, guardian, warden, or beorning (but surprisingly not brawler) to bash open the walls. These can be placed in house storage but not in shared storage. Please note that these deeds can be completed at level 15.
Calculations: The entire process should take no more than three hours for about 200 Lotro Points. Ered Luin can award you 50 Lotro Points, with the potential of 110. Without doing quests, you can earn about 85 Lotro Points in the Shire by using the slayer tome with a few extra depending on how many Mathoms you might have to use for reputation. You can get about 35 Lotro Points in Bree with a lot of potential extra available depending on how much more you want to do. Another 35 Lotro Points can be obtained from racial and auxiliary deeds.
