Kinparty 2025
Kinparty 2025
12:00pm - Light the Sky: As we waited for Everen to get connected, the group decided to get things started by shooting off some fireworks as the sun began to rise over the horizon. Some of the baubles from Legacy of Morgoth was placed to set the mood.
12:15pm - Scavenger Hunt: Everen started things off with his traditional Scavenger Hunt. He would list three hints with about a minute pause between and the first person who would reach his character to the appropriate place would get a point. The longest trip to find Everen was the one that required traversing through Goblin-Town. The hints are listed down below:
1. My current seat has witnessed scenes of woe/The fellowship was broken down below
The Horn of Gondor sounded, but in vain/When on the hillside Boromir was slain
But though the ring has long since taken flight/Look for me now atop the Hill of Sight
2. Here stands a tower of arcane design,/Four welded pillars of the Dúnedain.
A spell was shattered by a wizard's laugh/And parley ended with a broken staff.
Then Wormtongue's parting shot was badly thrown/And Peregrin retrieved the seeing stone.
3. You'll find your thirst a challenge to forestall/For it's a long way to the well and all
But if you fear the mighty trolls you see/Then you've forgot your family history!
The others found nearby may threaten still/But never more will Bert or Tom or Bill
4. An unexpected party during tea/Brought weathered map with small and silver key.
The map described the keyhole they could find/When moonlight shone upon it from behind.
So to the hidden door you now should rush/When first you hear the knocking of the thrush.
5. Here stand two rangers of Ithilien/And two of Faramir's most trusted men
They waylaid Sam and Frodo on their quest/And brought them to the window on the west
To find them now, you'll tread a soggy path/Within the culverts of Osgiliath
6. This former guard room kept beneath its gaze/Three passages within the larger maze.
Beware the well, lest you fall far below:/Its lid of stone was broken long ago.
This room's a likely place to rest your bones,/If you can stop the hobbits throwing stones.
7. In coming here, one seeker hoped to reap/A cooling shade and secrets buried deep.
But secrets proved to be just empty night/And years he waited, hidden out of sight.
Until his Precious found another mark/Who bested him with riddles in the dark.
8. I've found a much more wholesome place to dwell/Where once was found the love of Nimrodel
It later saw fate cut a deeper swath/When Aragorn and Arwen pledged their troth
But when she laid to rest here, then no more/Bloomed niphredil or star-shaped elanor
9. I stand before a city clothed in grass/The proud successor of Annúminas
It later fell beneath the Witch-King's strike/And Norbury became the Deadmen's Dike
These gates now lead to Angmar's minions dire/The wraiths of shadow, water, earth, and fire
10. The current occupant its place will yield/For there in future, in this very field
One day will grow the only mallorn tree/West of the mountains and east of the sea.
More recently it hosted many jests/A dinner party for a gross of guests.
1:20pm - Are You A Fool of a Took?: After a 5-minute break, we reconvened at the stage to the end of the marked path on the kinship island. We took our seats and prepared ourself for some trivia. Some of us were already panicking. A link to an online document was provided. Despite our best intentions, the best of us scored just over half of the questions correctly.
1:55pm - Costume Contest: The cosmetic competition was based on which one appeared the best. This could include what outfit they wore, best horse, or combination of war-steed accessories.
2:10pm - Maypole Spin: With so many people around, a good couple minutes was made taking advantage of the Maypole decoration. There was a quick glance through the Keg room that will be shown off later on and a preview of the hidden stairs up onto the pier inside the kinhouse.
2:15pm - Item Hunt: Resolina hosted an event with 10 tasks traveling through six different houses. The first three were in the kinhouse. Another three were in a Gondorian home. Then the last four were each in a separate Shire home.
#1 A Pirate Out to Sea, Treasure There Will Be. (Pirate Voice) Arg! Everyone should be familiar with the main chest at the entrance that holds all our stuff, but are you aware of the many other chests in the kinhouse as well? I'd like you to take a look around and count how many decorations there are with the word "chest" in them. Then send me a tell once you have a number. After a few minutes, I'll let everyone know the correct answer. There are no trick decorations; each one is an actual chest. Each one should be easy to find. I'm not like that guy down the road who likes to hide things in the corner of his house. You may begin.
Answer: 9. Second Floor: Chest of Durin the Deathless, Chest of Glittering Treasure, Chest of Hidden Secrets, Fancy Umbari Storage Chest. Library: Umbari Wooden Chest, Bilbo's Treasure Chest. First Floor: Chest of the Spider Queen and Chest of Durin's Bane. Pier: Chest of the Threshold.
#2 What's Hanging? (Edna Voice from Incredibles) As an artist, I need inspiration or my mood will quickly turn to despair. Some like sketches. Other portraits. I'm only interested in the true arts. Now darlings, would you all take a look around and count all the decorations with the word "painting" in them. That would be fantastic. Now Go! Win! And do send me a tell with your number when you get back. I do enjoy our visits.
Answer: 5. Large Dwarf-Made Painting, Summerfest Painting, Durin's Bane Painting, Dragon and the Storm Painting, Dragon Painting
#3 Best Guess. There are many different beings that reside in this place, both animal and people. If you were to poke around, you might be able to find some of them come out from their little homes. I won't be asking the lot of you to try clicking on everything in this house for fear some of you might accidentally be swept away. Instead, I want you to post in raid chat right now the total number of inhabitants you think there are in the kinhouse. This includes ones that are either currently visible or appear after you interact with a decoration.
Answer: 19.
#4 Hide and Seek (Dwarf voice) There are many different kinds of treasures to find in this house - dig sites, gold coins, relics. All I crave are the treasure chests. But when I told my nephew to put them away, he hid them in places I know not. I do not care where they are... just as long as they are in one piece. Send me a tell with a number of treasure chest decorations you find so I'll know for sure they are all still here. You may begin.
Answer: 9. Above entrance door, on top of bookcase, in garden, by railing, on pillar, behind ceiling lantern, behind bench, on top of blade, in the corner
#5 Knight-Mare (pompous voice) Have you seen all the wonderful pieces they put up around the house? Well, my dear sister keeps reminiscing of the same dream she's been having of someone coming towards her while riding on a white horse. Maybe it has to do with the new tapestries we put up in the place. Could you be a dear and send me a tell of how many tapestries we have, if any, with a man on top of a white horse? (end voice) And in case you didn't catch the reference to the name of the event, Knight-Mare because its a knight in shining armor on a horse. Oh, nevermind. You may begin.
Answer: 3. Tapestry of Aldor the Old, Tapestry of Earl's Crossing, and Tapestry of Brytta.
#6 Speaking of tapestries, it is time for - you literally guess it - Best Guess. As you were perusing the halls, you must have noticed there are quite a number of tapestries we put up in the house. Without moving, type the amount you think there are in raid chat right now and I'll let you know how close you got.
Answer: 18. Tapestry of the Ship-Kings, Moon, White Tree, Seven Stars, Great Dragon, Hammerhand's Horn, Eorl's Crossing, Frealaf, Aldor the Old, Folca, Folcred and Fastred, Brytta, Oath of Eorl, 2 Gondorian Knight and Tapestry, 2 Celebratory Gondorian Tree Tapestry, and Full Rohirric Tapestry.
#7 Take a Seat. (Drunk Dwarf Voice) My brother hosted an awesome party, but if you ask me he should have brought in more chairs. What better way to drink your ale than sitting down by where they put all the mugs?! Let's make a deal. I'll give a (high inflection) toast to the guests here that are able to grab a chair first and remain seated (ramble) while I go steal some drinks behind the counter. Run to a chair and type /sit to pull one up to your behind *hic* behind you. You may begin!
#8 This Bugs Me. (Evil Scientist Voice) My clumsy assistant Igor left the front door open and let all the flies in again. I thought they would be crawling all over this place, but they must have taken a shine to one of my trophies. Would you take a look around for me and send me a tell when you have found the right decoration. My assistant isn't available and I have other matters to attend to at the moment... Muhahaha. Oh, excuse me. Be quick as only the first five to send me the correct answer will receive my commendations. You may begin.
Answer: Ferndur's Skull
#9 Freeze Mister! (wily man voice) Brr. Boy howdy, it's cold. I can barely move. Who even hosted this event? And why are there so many snowmen? I wonder how many actually showed up in this kind of weather. Without moving your character and only panning your camera, count how many different snowmen decorations there are in this very room. Then send me a tell. Everyone who gives the correct answer will get a point, so take your time. I'll let everyone know the correct answer as soon as I get myself some hot cocoa.
Answer: 25
#10 I hope everyone had a good time, because it is that time again - time for Best Guess. (Gandalf Voice) When you get as old as I am, you have to dedicate some time to some much-needed relaxation. As my mind drifts listening to the world, I find myself counting all the flowers here on the ground. I tend to count about a hundred of them at a time before falling asleep. If you could maybe give me an estimate right here in raid chat of how many flowers you think there are in the room, then we'll be able to put this question to bed. (Normal Voice) This event is merely for fun. No points will be awarded. Not counting the bushes or shrubs, how many flowers do you think there are on the ground? I'll provide you my own estimate after some answers get posted in raid chat.
Answer: 10,006. 300 flowers per 4 rows = 1,200 for 8 flower beds = 9,600 and one orange box with 400 = 10,000 plus 6 lilies = 10,006.
*Bonus Question: We visited six houses and we saw a decoration of something that was broken into six pieces in two of them. Send me a tell with what you think it was.
Answer: Morgul Blade Trophy
3:30pm - Keg Race: Tig was to host the Keg Races this time around. While there are six different things that could have been included for the event, the Treacherous Hole (not a keg) and Green Dragon Keg (only ports you to one location) were excluded to keep the number down to 4. Drinking from theses kegs initiate a 15 second Party Time wait until you are sent to one of a dozen different locations. You can see the list on the wiki for the Anniversary Keg, Inn League Keg, Inn League Sinister Keg, and Moria Keg. You cannot use port skills but can use any stable-masters and brokers to get back to the housing district for another drink.
4:00pm - Freeze Tag: So the interesting thing about our Freeze Tag event is that we were not the only ones there. There was a server-wide Freeze Tag Celebration with a band playing various songs just outside the entrance. So, this event lasted for quite some time with more than 30 people participating.
