House Transfer
House Transfer
FAQ: A lot of people are worried about what is going to happen to their houses when they transfer onto the 64-bit servers. There was a lot of information provided through the streams such as:
For simplicity, the main decorating website posted a quick guide that essentially said to:
- Take pictures of your friend list (and maybe your ignore list)
- Finish claiming everything on your Reward Track
- Sell a kinship house if you have one
- Return all bound decorations that don't belong to you
- Take out everything inside your premium house storage (25-slot ones)
But some people still might not be satisfied with that list. Could it be that you might be a little paranoid? Would you like to see what happens in a few situations? Check out 10 steps to do during the transfer process. Some images you see below can be expanded in a new tab.
Data Save
Appearances: Before you start doing anything, it would be good to (Step 1) take screenshots of everything. If you want your new house to look similar to your old one, you will want to make sure you have a picture of what is in each room. Make sure you take a screenshot of the outside and a few inside from different angles like what you might see from my house list. Pull up your map and take a screenshot of where your house is located in the neighborhood. Then, you need to (Step 2) make a record of things that you might not visually see. This includes what environment setting, ambient music, walls, floors, and colors are inside the house. It might be a good idea to write down the address of your house as well.
Overflow
Shared House Storage: Some people might be worried that you only have a couple weeks to get things out of Escrow. Don't worry as that was only a thing back in 2013. There is no time limit in retrieving your items. You should also know that there is no limit on the number of items your shared storage can hold. Your chest might only be able to display 10,000 items at a time but the storage is infinite.
To utilize the overflow to the maximum, (Step 3) stuff as many initial non-bound things as you can before you start the process. When anyone presses that Return to Owner button afterwards, the bound decoration will go over the top. This includes bound wallpaper, mounted steeds, and pets. Meanwhile, (Step 4) take out everything you might have in the 25-slot premium house storage (this includes premium kinships).
Return to Owner
Name on Decoration: Some might worry that the item might not return to their owner. That is unfortunately a risk you will have to take. If you are really concerned, one thing you can do is give your friend decorating rights (which had to be given at one time for them to put the decoration on your property) and have them physically retrieve the decoration. Once taken, you could then immediately place it back down - securing your current character's name onto the decoration - and press the Return to Owner button.
Storage Tabs
Organization: As your storage continues to be overwhelmed by the number of returning decorations, you may want to remove any detailed information of the items so you don't have to scroll too much. (Step 5) Click on the nine square icon by the word "Display" at the top right of the storage window. You will then want to (Step 6) name the tabs on the right side. My preferences:
- All decorations that return to you are immediately placed within the first tab. You'll want to leave that tab alone. I personally deleted all text as a safe reminder.
- You will want at least one tab really close to the first line of decorations for any bound decorations you are returning that don't belong to a house.
- Make sure another tab has everything you had in storage before you started returning decorations.
- Every other tab should be reserved for things from each of your houses. After you remove everything bound from one house, you can move them from the first tab all into their appropriate house tab before continuing to the next house. Drag the icon of the decoration over to the tab on the right instead of trying to find the category down below.
Once you have cleared all the decorations from each of your houses, you can populate your shared housing storage with pretty much every other decoration. (Step 7) Place any bound decorations down into any slot they can fit on your house property and immediately press the Return to Owner button. Afterwards, (Step 8) put any non-bound decorations that you might not have room for into any house slot. These will be your extras and be automatically placed with everything else in your shared house storage in transit during the transfer process or abandoned/sold. This step might not be necessary as you might already have enough room to keep everything in your bags and inventory.
Kinship Removal
Kinship Storage: So, (Step 9) a character must abandon or sell a kinship before they can transfer. What happens with everyone's stuff? Let's pose a hypothetical:
- Al is the leader of the kinship and has a bound bed decoration.
- Bob likes decorating and left three bound rugs behind (crafted items are bound if you use universal ingredients from the crates).
- Charles put down a few non-bound decorations inside and outside.
- Danny has a few items neatly organized inside the kinship chest.
What do you think is going to happen once the kinship house is gone?
- Al is going to get his bound bed decoration back into his house shared storage.
- Bob is going to get his three rugs back, even if it overflows, just like if someone pressed the Return to Owner button.
- Charles isn't going to get his non-bound decorations back. Instead, they are sent into Kinship Escrow among everything else Danny might have had in kinship storage.
- Al is going to get a Housing Escrow alert. Everything he had in storage, and any non-bound decorations on the property, can be retrieved from the Escrow Broker. Danny is also happy that it kept everything neat, organized, and labeled like he had them in storage.
House Storage
Transfer Process: Since you might not be going to get rid of your house, what happens to it after you transfer? The process is similar to what happens to a kinhouse with a few exceptions. All bound decorations are automatically returned to their owner. Since you no longer have a house chest, your bound items are placed in the first tab along with everything else you have exactly as you arranged it in Escrow.
Technically, you do not have to visit the Escrow Broker at all in this scenario. (Step 10) Buy a house on the new server and everything will be automatically moved over into your shared house storage. Coordinate with the rest of your kinship where everyone can be in the same neighborhood.
Wrong House
For Sale: In the case of purchasing the wrong house, you can choose to immediately abandon or sell it. However, be aware that you will not be able to purchase another house until 24-hours has passed since your initial purchase. The house you no longer own will undergo a randomized time period of a few hours before being available on the market again.
