Lyndelby - Snow Attack

Lyndelby House - 2 Wellforth Way, Hirael Lyndelby Homesteads

  • Music: 'Yule-fest' Themes, Spring Festival

Outside

  • Unlike the Enormous Yard decoration in one of the lower house locations, the one in the upper hill is situated right above the house. This doesn't provide too much flexibility. What I ended up doing is pulling over a large building in view of the pathway towards the house. While there were quite a few options available, there were quite a few Orthanc Towers available at our disposal.
  • What to place on the main road proved to be rather difficult. Without the trees from the Spring Festival and the towers from the Midsummer Festival, we had to be a little creative with its presentation. The Arnorian Castle would have been a nice piece, but the huge yard slots don't extend that far over the yard. Instead of adding a redundant tower at the entrance, a somewhat smaller house sufficed. The Elegant Lamp Posts matched the Swan fence and white bark on the Myrtle trees matched the snow fields
  • Since the enormous decoration was moved to the far left, there was a big barren spot above the house. Unfortunately, the only thing that would stretch into that spot had to fit into a standard yard slot. There are quite a few decorations that were available but the Angmarim-style of the Greenhouse proved to be quite effective next to the Orthanc Tower. Since this is a deluxe house, none of the stairs could be properly aligned. However, the Angmarim ramp was the only thing that was at the right height from the ground level.
  • The deluxe version of the greenhouse is one that you can walk in and has a hidden beehive that brings in that spooky buzzing sound. There's a seagull bucket that has some invaders flying overhead as well.
  • The rest of the yard is filled with supporting items that were leftover from a week of decorating. The Fox and Fiddle Inn Signpost fit well by the stable. You can see a goat hiding in some brush over the small gazebo. There are a plentiful supply of snowmen that will welcome you through the snow. There's also some few things that fit into the farm theme.
  • Why did the white chicken cross the road? To get to the other snowfield.

Inside

  • The entrance was the hardest to decorate as there wasn't really a theme established from the start. Small things leftover from the house chest proved to click together with things like Double Dragon Wall Carving from the Dale quartermaster over the wine table from Midsummer Festival. I was skeptical on the Hobbit Yule-fest Wallpaper, but the style certainly brought out the high ceiling and mid-level decorations.
  • In order to make the central room work, I needed to push the smallest fire-pit I could find over. This caused a rather interesting dilemma with one of the side-rooms. The "pockets" from the fire-pit aligned with the "spa room" and also added another little pathway we could place one of the teleportation decorations.
  • As usual, most of the decorations in the middle room were things hogging up my inventory. These include different kinds of Lothlorien decorations (which doesn't count half of the ones available), a couple of vegetable gardens I bought from the Auction House, a picnic basket since it is hard to place it outside with all the grass growing, and a big pile of wood. The original urn that I had up the wall was removed and the ceiling carrots was added from the Homestead bundle for flavor.
  • Originally, the room behind the fire-pit was supposed to be a keg room. The problem is that there really was only one wooden keg left after supplying the other houses with some. I thought long and hard what to place in there and at a whim added the Reflection Pool. The rest of the decorations were slowly added overtime. Although it looked nice with the Fill Light - Intense Blue reflecting against the surface, I toned down the wall with an Abandoned Smial Wall surface with a black overlay. Other things could have been adjusted but the current feel of the room satisfied me.
  • One of the first things I knew I wanted was a snow room. There were many iterations from modifying the wall & floor surfaces, light colors, and the types of snowmen. Once we tried adding one of the iced-over braziers over the center pillar of the room, things began to come together. I added a cute little cat sign that creates a subtle schroeder-effect on whether it is sleeping on some snow or a cloud.
  • We discovered an amusing fact when were trying to get a Moria Geode. There are two types: one was meant to fit inside a house and another was much larger for your yard. Now that they both can be slotted inside or outside, the names are identical. Thankfully, they retained their sizes.
  • The rooms by the side entrance really aren't that great, personally. I added a red candle to Hobbit Fountain to give it a little bit of glow effect and the cozy teapot was something I added on one of the benches. Unfortunately, there is just way too much space with the things slotted in both rooms.
  • Ironically, the basement sort of became this grave of books collected from Assault on Dhúrstrok. There was no rhyme or reason why it ended up like that. The Arnorian Arch was added way later to build up some volume and the turtle head added a small fog effect. The yellow color brought out the spooky ruins and the miscellaneous stacks were slightly hidden behind a field of pipeweed.
  • There are four side rooms that all have their own couple decorations: a bedroom, two map rooms, and a treasure chest on top of a boulder. And because this is meant to be a part of the house you wouldn't dare venture in, grandma's furniture are placed down the hallway.
