March 10th - March 11th

Highlights: Circle of Despair, Circle of Death, Treasure Room, The Black Book of Mordor

Barad Arthir, the Lofty Watch-fort: Is the air getting kind of thin up here or are those suits of armor moving? No worries. James, my lucky frog will keep me safe. This level might get a little confusing but just recall the fort has giant wooden walls up. Make sure you don't fall through the cracks either. You will live but your legs won't be happy. There are only two possible ways to leave this area and one of them is a highlightable door you can see from hovering your cursor over it. There aren't a lot of quests here since Faramir will eventually leave and head onto the top of Minas Morgul. But you will be visiting this section a lot seeing it is the 4th and final camp you will be claiming in the tower.

Circle of Despair: This area can be brutal. You have multiple targets, fast respawn rates, and several cases you run back and forth looking for specific targets. You also will have to find the armor wight wardens that carry the components for opening the secret door back in Circle of Sorrow. Use the upper sections to kick ladders and shortcut back to the middle "safety zone". I only say that because you really won't find the rangers saving your butt if you have ten guys on you. The primary questline has you discovering why there are so many ghosts ignoring the fact that they are dead. One key location, The Garth of Angathwill have you up in arms with garden roots (there isn't an actual room to explore). It eventually leads you to finding The Gloomwaters where all the people drowned years ago. Before climbing up the long stairs, make sure you find the three rangers in the sub-section where there are a series of tiny pillars by the side. If for some reason you can't figure out where the quest "Gone Missing" leads you, it is actually the introduction to Gath Daeroval: The Shadow-Roost.

Circle of Death: This area gets complicated because you'll discover quite a bit of action going on up here. There are people who are trying to complete the Claiming the Dead City deed for each of the 4 control points. 3 are in the upper area while the 4th one is actually a bat in the Circle of Madness. You may also find people trying to complete their Wraith-Slayer of Imlad Morgul deed. Wights from the river and Circle of Sorrow do not count. The only thing that counts are the screeching banshees around the white fountains up top. You'll eventually get to visit two structures - Bar Maenath has a few dwarf wights hogging over the vault and The Wrecking-Hall infested with nameles. There is a fun sub-plot following Faramir to a door up top. I won't spoil it.

Treasure Room: Once you finally got your components, head back to the secret door and claim your... book? So I was pretty let-down that you had to fight some guys. But I guess it isn't always about flowers and gold.

The Black Book of Mordor: You'll find out that Earnur and his companions are having a good time at the Merry Swan in Minas Tirith. They decide to go into Mordor and chase down the Captain of the Pit. Earnur leaves unsatisfied and gets stuck holding a fortress. Voin hangs around for awhile before developing a crazy plan to escape. Oh and Magoldir dies by the sheer hands by the life he helped preserve. You'll really want to wait to do all this until the very end as the epic battle with Gothmag concludes the Minas Morgul story. Many people have had issues in the Instance: Gothmog's Rage. Just make sure you have effects on to see the squares appear on the ground and side-step when the lava spurts out of the ground. It's always in a checkerboard pattern. You have to solo this. The Captain of the Pit comes charging in and dies after killing your friend. If you have completed all chapters, you can then start the epilogue by visiting the dwarf that started all this in Jarnast. There is a huge story "connecting the dots" that I'm not going to go into detail here. However, they seemed to remove the final quest to turn the book into Minas Tirith, Kazasgar, or the dwarf. Look here if you want to see the text for those options.
