House Management

Highlights: Decorating some houses, New stable, Curator changes, Memorial

Houses: So I've taken it upon myself to decorate a few houses. I have sent off plenty of care packages to new members of the kin with flowers, carpets, and a couple of pets depending on their level and if it is their first time buying a house. I've even given some decorating advice to a couple. I've made a few posts in the past that list where my homes are located and what you might find in them. I even posted the many times I've redecorated the kinhouse. But I'd like to make a blog post about some recent renovations I've made. Some are still a work-in-progress since not all decorations can be given away. There are some much rarer decorations, like the ones from festivals or Bingo Boffin questline, that I'm not always able to grab. (Remember you can always open up the image full resolution in a new window).

Ardian's House, 3 Fountain Street Foxlin Bree-house Homestead: Inside the main room houses a comfortable setting with Candaith and a Rohirrim Chair sporting three shields. There is a brief table that has a bowl of rasberries and a couple of reading books. The living room has a couple of curious fish trophies and the Portrait of Narmeleth. In the trophy room contains the Black Book of Mordor and miscellanous remains of the guardian's victims. The house is completely fit except for a couple of small furniture slots.

Sigil's House, 5 Haven Way Amon Rovan Falathlorn Homestead: A few of my own personal items temporarily rest on Odie's residence. The fish pond outside from the Curator and the pile of gold coins are just a couple of things listed. Although the small house does not hold any deluxe additions, the two rooms on the bottom and top of the stairs shine with a golden large white "Leaf Border" Rug.

Strengthen's House, 3 Brookbank Street Nearbank Shire Homesteads: His yards contains a few items he personally added from the Winter Festival and Minas Morgul, a large tent and a birdhouse. Though the trees aren't unique they match the setting very well with the large flowerbed to the right. A battle goes on inside the main hall between the two dwarves from Ered Mithrin and the Snowmen from the Yule Festival. The living room is simple and delicate while the lounge still could use a few more trophies. The overall atmosphere still has room to grow with a few more tables and decorations.

Housing Stable-master: There is a new stable-master in each of the housing districts. Now you can teleport between Shire, Bree-land, Falathlorn, Thorin's Gate, Belfalas Housing Districts. These stables can also port you to Bree-land Festival Grounds in Bree and the Party Tree in Hobbiton. Nearly every major hub is accessible: Rivendell, Michel Delving, Galtrav, South Bree, Caras Galadhon, Celondim, 21st hall, Snowbourn, Erebor, Felegoth, and Ettenmoors. Even Estolad Lan and Magh Ashtu are included from Mordor.

Curator: The Curator is a vendor that barters various "favorited" decorations over the various seasons. Not all the decorations have appeared, including the elusive dwarf desk I failed to grab back when Moria was released on the legendary server. For whatever reason, Standing Stone Games decided to pull the Curator and spontaneously pop it back up at certain times of the year. This started back in July during the Summer Festival from the Update 23.4.1 Release Notes. Since then I can only detail two other occasions: 8/28 - 9/3 and 11/27 - 12/2. They seem to appear in the beacon, specials, and even on twitter as simple footnotes. I don't recall it ever appearing during the Harvest Festival. I hope they at least continue to communicate when it does appear.

Anvil of Winterstitch: We have made tremendous progress in our Sunday raiding in Anvil of Winterstitch. We can sustain enough damage for two tactics on the first boss and a somewhat Safety Dance with the dwarves from the second encounter. The third encounter is still a mystery. At first appearance, it seems the mechanics want us to "break" the immunity shield that appears over the drake. But when that didn't work, Cartor and I resorted to watching a video. It seems the tactic might just be to stop all damage on the boss and pull him under the icicles. We'll have to try that next week.

Black Book Epilogue: As a side point, Fanrel did manage to finish the Black Book of Mordor. Though completing Chapter 14 requires you to be level 124. You can only obtain the epilogue after finishing every chapter. At the very end, you have a choice on what to do with the book. Although I'm holding off Resolina's story when the Minas Morgul expansion is available for 2495 lotro points in March, I did finish Fanrel's story. Since I personally promised to return the book to the rightful owner, I placed the book back in the creepy room of the little dwarf that started this all.

Memorial: Christopher Tolkien, J.R.R. Tolkien's son, died at the age of 95. There was an announcement made for his memorial at the Party Tree. There was a very large crowd shooting of fireworks. A merry band from the House of Play and Music 'N Mayham came but I only caught the name of Swanships of Alqualonde. My final count was around 80 people. Moderators Dracula and Proscuitto showed up as well.
